For the Physical Agility test, each Candidate must be able to perform the following:

(Candidates will be dressed in Turnout Coat, Helmet, Gloves and SCBA, without face mask.)

Stair Climb: Must carry 100' of 2 1/2" hose (High Rise Fold), up and down two flights of stairs. Candidate may skip stairs going up, but must hit each step going down.

To qualify for this course, the candidate must have at least an high school diploma or GED; must be 18 years of age; must be of good moral character; and must meet the basic skills assessment. (T.A.B.E. scores above 10th grade level are required.)

The candidate must also pass a thorough medical exam and be able to participate in strenuous physical activities in hostile environments. To prove good physical conditioning, he/she must pass a physical agility test as described to the right.

Hose Hoist: Must hoist a 50' roll of 2½" hose up to the landing on the 3rd floor, twice.

Ladder Carry: Remove a 24' ladder and carry it 100 ft. then place it on the ground.

Forcible Entry Simulation: Move a 115 lb. beam across the sled using a mallet.

Hose Drag: Drag a charged length of 1¾ in. hose for 100 ft.

Victim Drag: Drag a simulated victim 100'. All movement must be backward.
