Welcome to the Manatee Technical Institute Fire Academy Program web site. Due to strict limitations on class size and content, we decided to post information about the program here. We also want to show exactly what a candidate will encounter by joining this program. Please explore the site, and you will see why this program fills with students quickly.

Employment Certification Program

Fire Fighter I runs from Aug to Dec 2007
Fire Fighter II runs from Jan to May 2008
Tues and Thur 6-10:00pm; Sat 8am-5pm

We offer further training in credit and non-credit courses. See the individual class descriptions located on our Career Prep page.

High School classes will also be offered as a public service academy. See your guidance counselor for more info.

Limit 24 candidates.

The Fire Science courses are required by the State to become a certified Fire Fighter. Applicants must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma (or GED certificate), and pass a background check and physical fitness test as well as the T.A.B.E. test. Please be aware that only the first 24 eligible applicants will be accepted into the program.

Prior to the start of the class, all prospective students will be required to attend an 8-hour orientation session. The $50 application fee includes processing, orientation, and physical agility assessment. Candidates may sign up for classes at anytime. They will be notified prior to orientation for their class.
