Our MissionThe Mission of Manatee Technical Institute’s Massage Therapy program is to prepare students with the appropriate knowledge base, hands on skills, and confidence to be exceptional massage therapy practitioners. Massage Therapy Program Educational Goal & Objectives: Goal: The goal of this program is to prepare students for employment as licensed massage therapists. The program is approved by the Florida Department of Health, Board of Massage Therapy. At the completion of the program, students may take the state approved licensing examination. Educational objectives : Gain a thorough understanding of techniques and applications of massage and their effect (physically, emotionally and mentally) on the client. Provide an in-depth knowledge of the human body and the effects that massage can have on it. Expand the student's knowledge and experience in a number of allied modalities used in the massage therapy profession. Encourage development of the student's self understanding and awareness. Obtain CPR certification and basic first aid training. Familiarize the student with the guidelines of the Florida Massage Practice Act, the Florida Board of Massage Therapy, Ethical Behavior and how they apply to massage therapy. Prepare students to be successful in developing their professional private practice or gaining employment in the medical, wellness, and clinical environment. Create, document, and implement treatment plans based on the goals of the client, findings through treatment sessions, and knowledge of the effect that massage therapy has on the human body. Adequately prepare the student to pass the massage therapy national exam and obtain licensure in the State of Florida .
