Teaching Staff and Student-Teacher Ratios
Nancie Yonker, the lead instructor and program director for the Manatee Technical Institute Massage Therapy program, is a licensed massage therapist in the state of Florida and holds a bachelor's degree in Social Work from Colorado State University . She is also nationally certified in therapeutic massage and bodywork with over 19 years of private practice experience. Ms. Yonker also holds a full-time professional vocational teaching certificate issued by the Manatee School District .
Adjunct instructors assisting in the massage therapy clinic are experienced licensed massage therapists with at least two-plus years experience.
The total student/teacher ratio for each class of students in the Manatee Technical Institute Massage Therapy program does not exceed 20:1.
Classrooms and Labs
The Main Campus of MTI is situated on a 30-acre campus in West Bradenton , Florida with 23 permanent buildings and over 20 portable classrooms. MTI 's East Campus, includes the Richard T. Conard, MD, Medical and Dental Building , the MTI Fire Training Facility, and the Charlie B. Wells Law Enforcement and Allied Health Buildings. Both educational complexes offer our students beautiful, shaded campuses in close proximity to other schools to facilitate seamless educational opportunities.
Our Culinary program at both campuses offers fresh lunch's everyday to students and staff at very reasonable prices.
The Massage Therapy program is located upstairs in Manatee Technical Institute's new Charlie Wells Law Enforcement and Allied Health building located at 5540 Lakewood Ranch Boulevard . This state of the art, open-plan 20-student classroom, specifically designed for the Massage Therapy program, has the ability to flip from classroom to massage clinic very simply. The massage clinic contains 10 massage tables (portable Custom Craftworks and one electric stationary) positioned around the perimeter of the classroom. Curtained partitions provide client privacy while creating ten cubicles for the student clinic. Each cubicle has an overhead light dimmer switch, round rolling stool, shelf, hook and clock. The clinic also has 6 massage chairs and cabinets for storage. Also available are two Hydrocollators, two warmers for heated stones, two paraffin baths, two sinks, refrigerator, and state of the art sound system, overhead projector, and computer.
