Course No: H170594 Prerequisite: ESOL Level 4. This 5-month class is designed to prepare students, whose first language is Spanish, to work in long-term care. The class time will total 200 hours, including 165 hours of Nurses Aide training, plus 35 hours of Medical Communication. Please contact the program counselor if you are interested. This course equips students with the necessary skills to provide basic patient care under the direct supervision of a nurse in a variety of settings. Instructor: Ramirez Patient Care Assistant (PCA) - 290 hoursCourse No. H170694 Component of Patient Care Technician program. This program prepares students with competencies to work in long-term care, home health, and hospitals. PCA includes 3 occupational completion points in the Patient Care Technician program. This 290-hour class is open to high school seniors and adult students. Class size is limited to 14 students. Instructor: Mathe Patient Care Technician (PCT) - 600 hoursCourse No. H170694 Prerequisite: PCA This course is available to adults as well as high school seniors as a dual-enrolled program. Students receive cross training in a variety of skills preparing them for employment in hospital, clinic, and long term care facilities. First semester, students earn Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide and Patient Care Assistant Occupational Completion Points (OCPs). Second semester students earn Phlebotomy, EKG Aide, and Unit Clerk/Assistant OCPs. Students must complete the first semester (PCA) in order to continue on to second semester (PCT). During the first semester, students may apply to take the state certification for Nursing Assistants (CNA). Practical Nursing (LPN) - 1350 hours
