Bilingual Nursing Assistant  (Spanish/English) - 200 hours


Course No:   H170594

Prerequisite: ESOL Level 4. This 5-month class is designed to prepare students, whose first language is Spanish, to work in long-term care. The class time will total 200 hours, including 165 hours of Nurses Aide training, plus 35 hours of Medical Communication.

Nursing Assistant (CNA) - 165 hours


Course No.  H170594

Part of Patient Care Technician program.

This course equips students with the necessary skills to provide basic patient care under the direct supervision of a nurse in a variety of settings. Successful completion of this program prepares the student to take the examination
for state certification (CNA).

Patient Care Assistant (PCA) - 290 hours


Course No.  H170694

Component of Patient Care Technician program.

This program prepares students with competencies to work in long-term care, home health, and hospitals. PCA includes 3 occupational completion points in the Patient Care Technician program. This 290-hour class is open to high school seniors and adult students. Class size is limited to 14 students.

Patient Care Technician (PCT) - 600 hours


Course No.  H170694       

Prerequisite: PCA

This course is available to adults as well as high school seniors as a dual-enrolled program. Students receive cross training in a variety of skills preparing them for employment in hospital, clinic, and long term care facilities. First semester, students earn Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide and Patient Care Assistant Occupational Completion Points (OCPs).

Second semester students earn Phlebotomy, EKG Aide, and Unit Clerk/Assistant OCPs. Students must complete the first semester (PCA) in order to continue on to second semester (PCT). During the first semester, students may apply to take the state certification for Nursing Assistants (CNA).

Practical Nursing (LPN) -  1350 hours
(including core)


Course No.    H170605

Prerequisite: Health Science Core mandatory, A & P early option.
A challenging program to prepare the student to care for patients in hospital, long term care and other health care settings. Not only will you study how the body functions,
but also how emotional and mental well being affects overall health. You will learn how to do scientifically based planning for the nursing care of each individual patient. Half of program hours are in clinical settings such as L.W. Blake Hospital, Manatee Memorial Hospital, Manatee County Health Dept. (HRS), and long-term care facilities. Successful completion of this class prepares students to take the examination for licensure in the state of Florida.

Limit 48 students each (day & eve).

Health Science CORE -  90 hours


Course No.    per program

A 90-hour required component of all health occupation programs. Integrated into each program according to plan, but it is a prerequisite for the Practical Nursing program. It is also a requirement for the Medical Assistant and Medical Coder/Biller programs. The class includes 10 hours on-line.
